Alstromeria

The Lily of the Incas, scientifically known as Alstroemeria and commonly called the Peruvian lily, is a vibrant, long-blooming perennial famous for its colorful, trumpet-shaped flowers.

Native Area: South America (primarily Chile, Argentina, and Brazil)

Size: 1 to 3 feet tall and 1 to 2 feet wide (dwarf varieties can stay under 12 inches)

Bloom Time: Late spring through autumn, continuing all the way to frost

Flower Colors: Pink, orange, red, yellow, white, purple, and bi-colored options, frequently featuring dark speckles or streaks

Toxicity: Mildly toxic to humans and pets if ingested; sap can irritate sensitive skin
